All our Idcs are actually a life time experience, no matter which of the 7 country in the world we teach and former candidates could tell you the same! But Nusa Lembongan has something pretty spectacular to offer.
Ready for proper diving?! You will be happy there. The opportunity to get to learn how teach others how to blow bubbles underwater in such location is an opportunity to jump on.
How to get to Lembongan? Easy, 30min boat ride from Sanur located right next to Denpasar airport! The dive center is located 10min walk from where the boat transfer are dropping there guest coming from Sanur. But with all your luggage, the boat company will offer you a lift to the center anyway.
So no issues there!!
Where to stay? Easy, we have on site the choice of different rooms for different budget! So no issues there either!
What’s the plan?! Becoming a PADI Instructor with Platinum Course Director Marie who speaks English, French, Arabic and some Dutch! She has been working in the diving industry since 12 years and have a lot of experience to share. Serious fun guarantee with that one!
The 19th of April it is. This is the day we will kick off our 3rd IDC in Lembongan along with Two Fish divers.
The facilities are well located and the whole team at the dive center is there to help out and make sure that not only the training will go really well, but it will also be done in a great athmosphere.
Many local guides as well to give you good tips and tricks about the dive sites. There is nobody who can tell better then they do.
The boat is waiting for us right on the beach, every time we have an Open Water presentation. The pool…it’s right at the dive center.
When it comes to classroom, we have a perfect one, but no one says that we can’t maybe do a presentation by the pool! It’s the diving world after all…we have to keep it realistic and teaching by the pool is what you will do as future instructor!
As for us, course director, staff instructor and candidates, we will be cruising in between all that. The roller coaster ride, the one that sometime offers you nice high, the one that also reminds you something that the stress might kick in! But we go through it all, and all together! Most importantly, after a two weeks of work, fun, lots of practice, knowledge development, there is you, standing straight, head up…holding a certificate of completion, new PADI instructor.
It would be hard to invite you to an amazing program without talking about Nusa Lembongan as well. This is a growing location full of opprtutinies. Many of our former candidates have now made it their home and are either working there as Instructors or even opened their own business.
The sceneries are pretty spectaculars and the diving…a crazy experience.
There is of course the famous Mola Mola who attract there a lot of divers, but know that there is even more. Manta point and these fascinating raise dancing around you.
North of Nusa Penida, there are these amazing drift dives during which you only have to cross your leg, hover and let the show running in the front of you.
Blue corner…for the fans of adrenaline (and for experience divers we have to say)!
Lots and lots of places to see and discover.
Driving around the Island on the one of the day off during the IDC program will also make you refreshing your mind. It will be a proper breath of fresh air…but with a view!
Plenty of little new areas as well such as mushroom beach where you could even go for a Dutch snack!
Driving through fields, green zone, monkeys, Luwak Coffee area and breath taken scenery with the sea on one side and the dormant volcano on the other…the 2 hours drive in between Sanur/Denpasar and Amed goes pretty quick as your eyes will have a lot do absorb.
Once in Amed, you will realise that this location has everything you need. Feels like being on the country side, but with all necessary things around the corner.
Describe as “the most recent tourist development area in Bali”, you will find here long stretch of coast running from the village of Culik about 14 km eastwards incorporating the seven villages of Amed, Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Selang, Banyuning and Aas.
The drive is pretty impressive and a stop by one of numerous restaurants for a drink with a view on these beautiful black sandy beaches is a most.
Or heading to the “Sunset Restaurant” with a view from above is not a bad idea at all!
As if it wasn’t enough, driving further north to Tulamben, only takes 20 min by scooter. Tulamben is also all about diving! You will find there a few restaurant along the coast and of course, the place is famous for the Liberty Wreck, USAT Liberty was a United States Army cargo ship torpedoed by Japanese submarine in January 1942.
In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.
We could keep on talking about the beauty and attractions of the place for ages actually! But best if you come and experience it yourself!
Dive-Careers is very proud to conduct here again this year PADI IDCs. In fact, our Platinum Course Director Marie has even decided to make it her home. Contact her directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
Same as on other locations, we will be in 2017 offering one more time our 15 days training in Amed. For all Dive Masters, Instructors who wish to cross over and who ever want to go work their way up, you know where to find us!
The PADI Instructor Development Course is a fantastic 15 days during which we are focusing on you, becoming a good instructor with good skills and knowledge. Our program includes much more practice then pre required, but also a lot of extras such as Marine Resource and Ecology seminar. We basically put in what we believe will make you standing out from the crowd once Instructor.
The location is also perfect for your learning process. Right on the beach, we can even do lectures under the sun with our two feet in the black sand if we want!
W also have a pool right on the spot for skills practices, rescue workshop and confined presentation. And you are welcomed to jump in for extra whenever you want!
On top of all that, we can do Open Water dives right from the beach in from of the dive center. Just need to watch out for mimic octopuses, sea horses, clown frog fish and different kinds of ghost pipe fish…yes, it’s such a hard life we live!
For those of you interested in becoming Instructor in different specialties, we will of course explore even more areas during the MSDT training, which follows the Instructor Examination on the last 2 days of the IDC. And course, the Liberty Wreck is on the schedule!
Being one of the rare center with a boat in Amed, we can get there within only 25min.
So much to do, so much to see, but putting all aspect of this place together, Amed is a little IDC paradise!
If you are heading to Indonesia and would like to know about our other IDC locations in country, keep in mind that we are also offering programs in Nusa Lembongan, Gili Air and Bunaken. Drop us an email for more information. www.dive-careers.com
In July 2016 we conducted our first PADI Dive Instructor Course, the IDC, in Amed, Bali, with Two Fish Divers. The location was perfect for dive instructor training with such easy logistics, helping create such a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. We conducted the IDC at Suriya Rainbow resort, Amed, Bali. Calssroom is in the on site classroom, 15 meters away is the swimming pool and jump over the pool side to the beach and we had our open water destination. A thoroughly enjoyable IDC with Andrea and Melissa participating and Matt staffing. Great location to teach in and eagerly awaiting the next IDC in Amed starting the 23rd of October 2016.
During the IDC we ran a Scubapro seminar for our candidates which was joined by some staff. This gives them a more in depth look at dive equipment how it functions and importance to dive businesses. Participants were issued with Scubapro certificates.
Yvonne from the Two Fish Technical Diving Department also gave the candidates an intro into sidemount and technical diving. Gave them a chance to play around with different configurations of diving equipment in the pool. Even Remi from a previous Koh Tao IDC joined in to get a taste of tec diving.
Half way through the IDC we had a GoPro evening with some wine and some beer sponsored by PADI. It was a great chance to meet a load of dive instructors from the other dive centers in Amed. We had short talks about the state of Bali reefs by Reef Check representatives, Technical Diving with Yvonne from Two Fish, Free Diving wit Yokram Zekri from Ocean Prana and I looked at other opportunities in the dive industry. An excellent evening to look at many of the different paths you can take as a PADI Dive professional. We will do another evening like this when back in October.
And,most importantly during the Bali IDC we got to dive on some great artificial reefs. We conducted specialty training on both the Liberty wreck and artificial reefs of Jamyluk. Great dives and definitely a drawcard for completing your IDC in Amed, Bali.
I am looking forward to being back in Amed for another Bali IDC on October 23 2016. I had a great time on the July IDC and judging by the reviews, so did Mel and Andrea. Congratulations on becomign instructors and already finding successful careers. See you in Amed again soon.
Top Course Director!
“I can only recommand course director Mark Soworka if you plan to become a dive instructor 🙂 He not only prepares you for the exam, he adds extra courses about marine life, equipment and has a lot of anecdotes to share with you that will prepare you for your future carreer as an instructor! ” Melissa
I recently completed our first Instructor Development course on the Bali Indonesian Island of Nusa Lembongan. The course was held in conjunction with Two Fish Divers that have had a successful, well respected dive resort on Nusa Lembongan for the past four years. Nusa Lembongan, just a 30 minute boat ride away from the main island of Bali, Indonesia, is growing quickly as a popular destination for divers, regular manta ray and seasonal mola mola sightings, plus a laid back vibe drawing divers from around the globe.
Our PADI IDC in Nusa Lembongan had a great group of students from around the globe. Plus it was an excellent opportunity for me to catch up with many old friends that are now settled in Nusa Lembongan. I had a great time on the IDC. Maybe a little too much some nights but it was great fun catching up with former candidates and friends. And I think the candidates had a great time as well judging by some of their reviews.
Mark the miracle man!
“Couldn’t have been happier with my IDC experience with Mark. I call him a miracle worker as the person that walked through the door at the start to when I walked out at the end are two very different people. I’m extremely happy with the outcome and feel that he trained us to a very high standard which meant that the exam was a breeze for all of us. Mark’s years of experience are very evident in the way he teaches, he has it down to a fine art. ” Nicole from Adelaide, South Australia
Amazing course director
“Doing the IDC with Dive Careers and more specifically with Mark Soworka, was for sure the right choice. We had 12 solid days of preparation including a lot of theory and GSP exams which made us 100% ready for the IE. The inwater preparation was also great as we had to demonstrate and brief several skills in both confined and open water. A few days before the exam, we also had a mock IE which allowed us to put ourselves in the propel exam conditions! Sharing my IDC experience with others, I realized that we had much more training than usual which made all of us succeed! I will highly recommend Mark! Also the people at Two Fish have been very useful during the whole course which could be a bit stressful. Special thanks to Frederic Brysse, Brice, Rowan and Danielle Drury” Rhome with an accented e, from the Basque region of France.
Professional & fun
“If you are considering a professional dive career than look no further, @ Dive-Careers they know what it’s all about.” Ben from the Netherlands.
Staffing the Lembongan IDC
“Mark and his exceptional knowledge made the IDC for all candidates very interesting and fun. Loved staffing the IDC at Lembongan!” Kim from the Netherlands via Koh Tao
Fantastic Time – Friendly and Thorough
“I had a fantastic time doing my IDC. Mark and the staff instructors were excellent and we couldn’t have been any more prepared for the IE. I was lucky to have some awesome team mates which made the whole experience really fun and enlightening. I would recommend Dive Careers and Two Fish to anyone wishing to do their IDC and have complete training and enjoyable experience at the same time. Two Fish staff were excellent and always willing to help and offer advice ranging from tips for being an instructor to fixing my regulator. Thank you to everyone:)” Tristan from the UK.
Good staff & people..
“The IDC at Two Fish Divers on Lembongan was a nice and educational experience. The staff, lead by Mark Soworka, were extremely good at teaching and knew their stuff.” Mikko from the cold, desolate Arctic, a man of much emotion.
On our May IDC we had pregnant manta rays circling overhead. The next Instructor Course is scheduled for September, mola mola season. Looking forward to it. If you have nay questions about our Indonesia programs just check out www.dive-careers.com and email me on email@example.com . Look forward to seeing you on your instructor course soon.
An unexpected phone call that brought me an adventure; yep, this is how the story begins…and probably how I will have to end.
Working as a Platinum Course Director for Dive-Careers is the most fantastic job you could think of. We travel the world to teach people how to teach people how to blow bubbles underwater, yes, that’s it! We offer courses in Thailand (Koh Tao), India (Pondicherry and Andaman Islands), Philippines (Bohol and El Nido), Sri Lanka (Hikkaduwa and Trincomale), Sicily, South Africa (Durban) and this year we started in Indonesia where we will be offering IDCs in multiple locations such as Bunaken, Lembongan and Bali.
This is where is where my story begins: Indonesia!
On the 12th of February, 7pm, I received a phone call informing me that there was a last minute change in our plans due to passport issues (yes…things like that can easily happen when traveling the world!!). This is what I heard on the phone: “Marie, you need to leave Koh Tao in 2 hours, get on a boat, get on a plane and make it fast as you have to be in a bit more then 24 hours in classroom, in BUNAKEN, Indonesia, for an IDC”!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH (That was my reaction!)
It had to be done, despite the fact that I had to leave behind important people (and you know who you are!).
With some good help of someone who was trying to make me chilling a bit (let’s be honest…I was stressing a bit!), we got the ticket booked, I grabbed my suitcase and off I went.
Never thought that one day I would be running in an airport with Mark Soworka. Thank god he got in good shape the last few months!
Koh Tao – Surrathani – Bangkok – Jakarta – Manado – Taxi to the Marina and boom, 24 hours later, the staff from Two Fish Divers were waiting for me. The last step of the trip was to board their transfer boat. Direction: Bunaken!
Didn’t really know what to expect for our first IDC in Indonesia, but I know now that it went way beyond my expectations.
I’ve been welcomed and introduced to the Two Fish Divers efficiency right on arrival. It’s like being at home where even Mama cooks for you 3 times a day, where you walk 2 seconds from your bungalow to either jump in the pool or to the café to grab a nice cold Bintang. No need to go outside of the place, you got it all right in the front of your eyes.
But hey! I wasn’t there for the food and the cold beer (even though, it was also very nice! Haha!), I was there for an IDC, which is why 1 hour after my arrival, I was jumping in the pool with the candidates for a Skill Circuit.
Right there, the laugh started and I knew that it was going to be a very nice 2 weeks ahead of me with great company.
IDC Candidates coming from Belgium, England, France, Indonesia and USA and two members of the Two Fish Divers Team coming from England and New Zealand joined us for their Staff Instructor Course.
If we add the French Canadian on top of that (!!), we were representing 7 countries. But the nationalities don’t really matter do they?!? Most importantly, the vibe was at it’s best.
Time in the classroom, in the pool and in Open Water was the plan. Our schedule looks the same everywhere we teach, offering a consistency and high quality level of training, but can I add something?! The WATER and the DIVING here were unbelievable! After our 1st presentation, I was hoping so much that the candidates would have enough air left so that we could go on a dive. And thank god, they did!!
First presentation was at “Rowi”, perfect for muck diving. We even heard whales during the dive, only problem is that the whale has a name: Bryce, the Staff Instructor.
Second presentation was at Lekwan 3…and the drop off right behind us was really tempting! How could we have not fly in the blue after the great presentation of the candidates.
Oh, and we heard “Bryce the whale” again!
For the third presentation at…I can’t remember the name…was as spectacular as the rest. Simply magic to have to evaluate in these waters.
Of course we did spend time in the pool in between as well…and I can’t think of one single presentation during which we didn’t crack up!
Classroom?! Yes of course, but it was all about discussion, interaction, sharing experiences and knowledge in between 8 fabulous people (I am counting my self in!).
We always hear as Course Directors, the candidates say that the IDC was an absolutely amazing experience. This even includes the days they definitely wish their CD slept in and didn’t show up!!!). Our first IDC in Indonesia proved this once more.
It is intense, yes, but it is also the occasion for such a good time.
For us, the Course Directors, every IDC is a simple reminder that what we are doing, is fantastic. At the end of the program, when the candidates are standing holding their diplomas, same as they did in Bunaken, you can imagine the feeling!
Adding to this brilliant time, the Two Fish Divers team has been exceptional. Perfect resort with a relaxed, tranquil and happy atmosphere, with the local staff playing guitar and singing! All services for the guest are being done at a top quality level. Really cool to see such well organized dive resort.
I wish I could have done a “Two Fish Run” by visiting more of their locations (They also have dive facilities LEMBEH, MANADO, NUSA LEMBONGAN, BALI AND SOUTH LOMBOK), but it will be for next time! At least I had the chance to visit Lembeh where we went with the candidates once the IDC was done to complete their Specialty Instructor training. Deep, Wreck, Nitrox, Night, Drift, O2 provider, Photography and AWARE Fish ID was on the menu.
Amazing experience again and this, because of the Two Fish Divers spirit! The diving? What can I say when we see 5 Pygmy Sea Horses on the first dive on one single little piece of 30cm of Coral!
I can’t wait to back for more! Maybe I should mistakenly (like the “oups” type of mistake!) drop water on a certain passport?! Haha!
No, but seriously, today, new PADI Instructors are walking in different streets of Indonesia with their heads up. Today, there is a Course Director on her way back to Koh Tao, Thailand, with a very proud feeling. You guys will be amazing and we are looking forward to work with you.
Yep, an unexpected phone call that brought me an adventure!
A massive thank you to Two Fish Divers team. Thanks to you new Instructors and thanks to you too both Staff Instructors! Absolutely amazing time and we will have more!
The guys must have had a great time an dMaire did an excellent job despite the last minute change, judging by the SubaTribe reviews:
“Marie gave us the best preparation for not only the Instructor Exam but also for the carreer of a diving instructor. The whole two weeks have been well organized, efficient but also full of fun… i can only recommend to go through this great experience 🙂
“I signed up for my IDCS course with Dive Careers and Two Fish Bunaken – what a great experience and a fantastic location! The classroom, pool and dive centre was really convenient as it’s all contained in the resort. Loads of support from the whole Dive Careers team, not just our awesome CD, Marie-Lise Roux. The whole two weeks was great fun, both me and the other IDCS were able to get involved with the candidates and we are able to add our experiences while at the same time learning some great new skills. Recommended!” DD
“Had a great time and learned lots. Really felt supported and like I was important…even though I know you do this constantly and teach 4 million people. The IE was a breeze after all the thorough preparation”. Roya
