WEEK TWO

Day 8: a.m. TRAINING DIVES 9 & 10. SHOT GATHERING

After discussing the rest of the project’s to be completed spend 2 dives with your instructor gathering the shots you need to create 2 short promotional movies for Buddha View. One movie to be under 4 minutes and the other under 2 minutes. You will find there are many opportunities for you if you travel and dive with a video camera. Many shops throughout the world will offer you free dives or a substantial discount for making a promotional video for their shop. In many ways it is much harder to make a short and to the point movie than a 20 minute movie. Just think how long a typical advert is on TV. Short movies are also much easier to load onto a website.

Day 8: p.m. SHOT GATHERING ON LAND

We will spend the afternoon gathering shots of the dive shop, people in the pool and the office etc. to include in your 2 promotional videos. Then review and capture your footage to begin outlining your edits and storyboard. We will also have an academic session on the different formats that are suitable for the web and the compression of video files.

Day 9: a.m./p.m. POST PRODUCTION

Finish editing the 2 promotional videos including music, colour correction and titles. Export the video’s in different formats suitable for DVD production and the Web.

Day 10: a.m. TRAINING DIVES 11 & 12. GOING LIVE ON THE JOB

Go live and film a group of students diving with Buddha View on their morning dives. This time your instructor will come along with you but you will have the only camera and it’s up to you to get all the shots you need to create a 20 minute video memory.

Day 10: p.m. POST PRODUCTION

With guidance you will spend the afternoon editing the movie in time for a showing on the big screen in the restaurant at 6 o’clock. Then sell the movie to your customers and burn the DVD’s.

Day 11 & 12: PERSONAL PROJECTS

These two days are set aside for you to indulge yourself. You can choose create whatever project you want. Perhaps you have some friends who want to be filmed or a particular interest in some aspect of marine life you would like to document. We can facilitate whatever it is and guide you through the editing.

Day 13 & 14: SHOWREEL PRODUCTION

By now you will have a lot of footage and several projects on the go at the same time. These two days are your opportunity to complete everything and concentrate on the DVD show reel you will produce. Your still welcome to dive as much as you like but it is important you to ensure you leave with a product which will showcase your talents to prospective employers and amaze your friends and family.
