Live-aboard experience
With any dive careers package you have the option to include a one week Similans Liveaboard experience. This is the opportunity to combine the great amount of experience with assisting courses and local diving trips that you gain on Koh Tao with that added skill and knowledge of the Similan liveaboard market. It will help create a well rounded and experienced dive professional.
You have the choice of two Similan Liveaboard experiences. One based in Khao Lak, the other in Phuket.
The Khao Lak experience
North of Phuket Island, Khao Lak is your gateway to the Similan islands. This eight day Khao Lak experience includes a 3 day two night trip live-aboard to Similan islands, two days of local wreck trips from Khao Lak, shop experience, 5 nights accommodation, and transport between Koh Tao and Khao Lak. Dive Career Interns will be hosted by one of the most dynamic dive businesses in Khao Lak, Wicked Diving.
- Day 1: Arrive in Khao Lak (afternoon)
- Day 2: Day in the shop, help preparing a liveaboard trip (this should be the day before
- the boat departs, lots to be learned from and fairly busy in the shop)
- Day 3: Similans (liveaboard)
- Day 4: Similans (liveaboard)
- Day 5: Similans (liveaboard)
- Day 6: Day in the shop, prepare a longtailtrip to local wreck
- Day 7: Wrecktrip
- Day 8: Wrecktrip, leave to Suratthani for nightboat in afternoon.
Accommodation is very close to the dive school. It is clean, spacious rooms, with swimming pool and a great restaurant. The wreck trip preparations are very good for learning logistics and practicing dive
briefings, boat briefings and scheduling dives, pick ups, tank fills, spare equipment,
food, drinks, etc . The live-aboard experience will give some absolutely amazing Similan diving plus valuable live-aboard experience that will look great on a resume.

Phuket Experience
This six day experience based from Phuket on the elegant sailing vessel The Sumpai Jumpa includes a four day live-aboard to the Similans, plus experience with trip preparation and customer service with a liveaboard operation. The package includes travel from Koh Tao to Phuket and accommodation on Phuket.
Itinerary:
LIVE-ABOARD EXPERIENCE
- Learn how to raise the sails and some basic knot technique, good practice for your IDC.
- Learn how to use the GPS and some basic navigational techniques.
- Learn about briefing a dive, how to recognise currents and conditions in selection
- of a dive site, very important for your future career as a dive professional.
- Day 1 : Arrive midday in Phuket. An introduction to the logistics of preparing a Phuket live-aboard. Accommodation provided.
- Day 2: Meet customers and leave on first day of live-aboard experience.
- Day 3: Gain valuable guiding experience in Similans
- Day 4: More diving the Similans.
- Day 5: Even more diving in the Similans and return to Phuket. Accommodation provided.
- Day 6: Return to Koh Tao.
